Prize 4 Digi's at Meljens Designs Store

This week the design team got to play with some really cute digi's from Meljens Designs.   Mine is called "Mouse Skiing".  I been sick of making Christmas cards for ahile now, so I decided to make something else, a gift bag.  I've had a Paper Boxes kit from K & Co. for a few years.  I've used a couple of them, but not too many.  I decided this was a good gift to make for one of my neighbors.  She's kind of old and a little bit disabled, so I thought it would be a good way to cheer her up.
I printed out the digi really small, cut it out in one of the small circle dies and colored it with my Copics and distressed the edges in distress ink in "Tea Dye" by Tim Holtz.  I added the digi to one of the flowers, cut out a tag from other parts of different boxes, added a bow from Martha Stewart and little beige pearls inside the loops of the tag and to the edges of the box.  I also wrapped some antique lace around the box.

Here's what the top of the box looks like.  The blue flower is from Prima, which I added another pearl to.  I glued it to other flowers that I got from my stash.
After all that work, I had to make a card to go with it!!  Oh well...I used the same digi, just a little bigger, coloring it and cutting it out the exact same way so it would be matchy matchy.  I used the same lace, "waterfall" stickles and the same bow as I did on the box, adding a button on each edge of the lace.  The paper (brown) is also from K & Co., but it's from the McKenna line.  The tag is from the box kit, which I stamped with an ANM stamp and Rubber Stampede ink and the blue paper is scrap, also from the box kit.  The large snowflake is a Martha Stewart punch with "waterfall" stickles layered with a little snowflake punch (I think it's from Cutting Edge) with "diamond" stickles on it.  I really hope she likes it...I plan on filling the box with little candies.
Here's an update.....I gave this to my friend and she ABSOLUTLY loved it!!  She just went on and on about how pretty it is and how she couldn't wait to show it off to people....made my day!!  And I was having an absolutly crappy one!!!

Ignacio had come up with this cute new set of digi's based from the book by Jesse Walton.  They are all so adorable!!  I colored it with Copics, cut it out and glued it to two different size dies.  The red and blue paper are from scraps and the pink paper I got from my friend, Elaine as part of my Xmas present.  I love the embossing on it.  The rub ons are from Daisy d's called "I Believe Doodles".  I wrapped it around part of the card, adding ribbon, a diamond dangle, and some old plastic beads I found one day cleaning out my daughter's room...I used the sketch from Seems a Little Sketchy and color combo from Our Creative Corner.  The look so good together!!

CDAC progressive Challenge #9

Challenge #9
Dec 14th - Jan 14th

We are now up to Challenge #9 at the CDACPC.  The wonderful people are giving everyone 2 extra weeks for this challenge because of the holidays.  Not that I needed it.  I couldn't wait to start, once I saw this cute little digi, from   I printed the digi out on the green striped sparkly paper and then the same digi on plain cardstock.  I colored the bear with my Copics and cut it out and paper peiced it with the tree.  I added some small pearls for the "balls" on the tree and added the bow from Martha Stewart, which I also added a pearl to.  Like I did with the Incy Wincy challenge a couple of weeks ago, I put it in a frame from Graphic 45 and mounted it on top of the red paper from Paper Boutique's "Country Christmas" set.  The metal corners (which are actually green) are from Inspirations, which I got from my friend Elaine for Christmas!  I love them...everything else is from my stash..

This weeks challenge is being sponsored by Nicecrane Designs.  The challenge is to make a Christmas card using brads.  The digi is  Vintage Christmas, papers are from Graphic 45.  I took out the center part of the frame and glued the digi inside it.  The picture borders are from Heather Jolly Digital Scrapping.  I think they add a great touch!
Prize is a $15 GC to the store

Paper Crafting Journey #26 8th Dec

8 Dec 11
Challenge #26
 Christmas

This is the last challenge this year for Paper Crafting Journey.  In January I start my "official" term for PCJ, but loved starting early.  Thanx guys!!

This weeks challenge is being sponsored by Meljens Designs.  These digi's are just way too cute!!  I love using them!!  Although I'm starting to get tired of Christmas/Winter cards.  After all, I started making them in October, when I got tired of Halloween ones!!  ha ha...

The papers are from my stash, along with the ribbon and gold studs, which were originally swirls that I cut apart.  I used a small scallop oval to put the snowman on.

I followed the sketch from Totally Gorjuss again, but this time I did it as it was suppose to be.

Challenge #123
Non Traditional Christmas Colors

Our sponsor for this week is Prairie Fairy Designs.  We got to pick from some wonderful digi's for our Non-Traditional Christmas Color Challenge.  That means no red,  green, gold, or silver.

I went with teals & blues.  The digi is called "Carolers Singing".   This is not something I usually do. I like to do the more cutesy stuff.  I cut it out using my new dies "Big Scallop Circles-large" size.  The bg papers are from Graphic 45 and the strip of other paper came from one that my friend Elaine gave me, ribbon-Creative Charms, flowers are GCS Imports  and Prima e. and the tag is leftover from a  Daisy d's kit.
I used the sketch from Totally Gorjuss, but twisted it around a little bit.  Hope it's ok??

Challenge #122
Use a Tree
Our very own Nikki, owner and designer of Limited Runs Stamps, came up with the great digi's that we got to play with this week.  For the challenge, we want to see trees in your project.  I used two digi's for my card this time.  The first one is the back ground called "Piney Forrest" and the second on is the litttle girl called "Anne with a Candy Cane".  I colored both digi's with Copics and used stickles to break up the snow lines and to bring out the stars.

We are also having a DT call.  Deadline for this is Dec. 4th, so don't forget to check it out here.

Nov 24th Paper Crafting Journey Challenge #25

Happy Thanksgiving To All!!

After doing a couple of GDT for Paper Crafting Journey, Lisa asked me if I would like a permanent position on the the DT.  I said of course!!  Although, I was suppose to offically start in January, Lisa let me start early.  Our sponsor for this week is Digital Delights.  The digi is called "Pickles the Penguin".

I put him on two different size "scallop ovals" dies, adding stickles to the outline of the snow and the top of the hat.  All the papers are from, once again, my friend Elaine.  The flowers and rhinestones are from my stash and the little snowflake circles were a Christmas present from my daughter last year.  I don't know who they are from...

Challenge # 120
Tic-Tac-Toe

We have a new sponsor, Mami Doodles, or at least it's the first time I've used them.  One lucky winner gets 3 digi's that they pick + 1 that you pick.
The DT got to play with some really cute images.  Mine's called "Little Black Dress", although I didn't make mine black...

The challenge this week is Tic-Tac-Toe.  Pick 3...up, down or diagonal, doesn't matter...just make sure you tell us which way you went.  I went diagonal, top left to bottom right (red, any Christmas sentiment, ribbons).

The papers are from Graphic 45, which I bought last year near the end of the season, so I didn't use too much of it last year.  But trust me, you'll see me use more of it this year!!  I made the ribbons using a shiny white paper and "Kaleidoscope" Bordabilities dies and added red and white rhinestones along the edges.  The Christmas sticker is from an old kit, but I'm not sure which one and the stars are from my friend Elaine.

Card #2

I decided to make a second card for the CDAC Progressive Challenge.  Keeping with the extra part, I used the same glitter that I used to make my snow on the first card.  I cut out the bear and added him to the square punch that I used to cut the papers.  The ribbons are from my scraps and the papers are from my friend Elaine.  I used the sketch from Christmas Card Challenges.

CDAC progressive Challenge #6

Here's my card for the week 6 of the CDAC Progressive Challenge.  This digi is from Ginger Loft.  To add another twist to the challenge was to use 3D snow on your card.  When I sprayed the sealer on it, it changed the color a little bit.  I used "Crystal" glitter to mine that I've had forever!!  I don't even remember the last time I used glitter.  Makes too much of a mess..the rest I colored with my Copics and for the sky, I sponge painted it with distress ink in "Weathered Wood".  The ribbon is fron my stash, rhinestones-Creative Charms, stamp-ANM, which I embossed with clear embossing powder, but you can't see it, and paper-Heather Jolly's "Renee" kit.  (And yes, it was named after me..hehe).

Karen's Doodles Anything Goes w/a Twist Sept 9th

Karen's Doodles Challenge
Anything goes with a twist

I've had some of Karen's Doodles digi's from other challenges, so I finally decided to make a card and enter it into one of their challenges.  I used the "Winter Angel" digi, that I colored with my Copics and highlighted some areas with stickles.  The papers are from KOI Memories and scrap stash and the ribbon is also from my stash.  The embellies don't have names on them.  I hate using the snow flake embellie because it's so pretty.  This will sound bad, so don't hold it against me!!  I've even taken them off other cards that I've made so that I can use them over and over!!  Shhh...don't tell!!  he he...

Challenge #94
Easel Card

I haven't done one of Mo's challenges in a long time, so I thought it was about time to do one.  The challenge was to make an easel card.*** I followed the sketch from Digi Doodle Shop and the picture inspiration from Prairy Fairy Fridays.
***I didn't see the part about an animal originally on the DP2 challenge, so I went back and printed out the rat-a-tat digi and cut out and colored the dog and put it on the card***
The papers are from the endless scrap pile, along with the ribbon and bead strings.  The silver part of the digi, I printed out the digi on and paper pieced on to the original digi.  The tag is one from Heather (I've yet to learn how to make one) that I played with on Picasa.  The swirls are also from one of her kits that I added to the tag, along with the words.

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges:

Challenge #106
Something Old/Something New

This week we are being sponsored by Digital Delights.  These images are just way too adorable!!  I picked the Gnome to play with.  I thought I'd get a jump on some Christmas cards and this is the first one I've made this year.  For the challenge this week, we want you to jump into the old supplies that you have and use something from that (something old) and then get into something you haven't used yet on any of your projects (something new).

For my card this week I printed out the papers from Heather Jolly's blog.  It's the "Christmas 2009" set.  I also printed out the letters, the ribbons, and the pink bag from this set.  I added "at you-Spica" markers to all the pink parts of the Gnomes uniform (but I can't ever get them to show up on my pics) and  stickles to the letters to make them stand out a little bit more.  For the letter itself, I used "Waterfall" and for the outside of the letters I used "Green".  My something old on my card is the stickles and my something new are the pompoms.  I got them from my daughter for Christmas, but this is the first time that I have used them, so technically, they are still new.  For his beard and gloves, I used Polymark Fabric paint in "White Pearl".

The Gnome is removable.  He comes out of the card.  Remember when posting your card, make sure you tell us which is "old" and which is "new" on your card, or it may not count.
Recipe: digi-Digital Delights "Gnome", papers and embellishments Heather Jolly's "Christmas 2009" set, stickles, Polymark paint,  pompoms

FTTC #97

Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge(FTTC97)!Posted by: Betty Wright

December 13th, 2010

Maki Jones is our challenge host! Maki is challenging us to a theme! The theme is all about food and drink! Create a card or project that showcases some yummy treats either real or stamped!

This is the first time for this type of challenge for me.  I got this stamp on CDAC.  It's from "Robin's Fettish".  Sorry, I don't remember when the challenge was from. Obviously, my "food" part is the candy canes.

They have five different designers that donate digi's for challenges.  It's a great way to build up your digi files, get to know new designers and make new friends.

Challenge #37 and New Release

Our challenge for you this week is:

RED

GREEN

GOLD

All 3 colors combined for one amazing creation!!

I've used Meljen's digi's in other challenges and just love these digi's.  They even have freebies for you to use.  My digi is actually a freebie.  It's suppose to be a coloring page, but I chopped it down to make a card.  I really like the way it came out.

I added stickles to the snow and a piece of scrap ribbon from my stash.  The paper is from MME's "Fall In Love" stack.

Hang on...only 10 more days till the end of the Christmas card season.  I don't know about you, but I'm totally getting burnt out on them.  I think I may have started a little bit too early.

Challenge #11 "For the one I love"

This time we have the theme ;

"For the one I Love"
And
We want to see the word "LOVE" or "SPECIAL" & / or some hearts somewhere on your creation.

I made an Easel card for this challenge.  The paper is from both Paper Boutique's "Country Wish List" and Carol Wilson's "Snow Days".  Instead of doing a regular punched border to keep the card open, I added a line of "Diamond" stickles.  I was going to do the the whole snow part in stickles, but decided to leave it alone so that it can be written on.  I'm also entering this card into the following challenge:

Stamping Scrapping Challenge-"Winter Wonderland"

Challenge 23 – Let it snow

This is just a basic card.  Not much to say about it.  I added rhinestones and used black & white paper, which I've actually never sone before.

Non Traditional Christmas Colors

This week it's all about Christmas cards, as with most of the blogs.  What makes this weeks challenge is you can't use traditional Christmas colors.

For my card I went with blue & silver.  The Design Team got to choose one of four Christmas digi's.  The paper and frame is from Carol Wilson's "Snow Days" kit.  I actually went with something other than the Graphic 45 paper.

A special thanx goes out to our wonderful DT member, Nikki C, for giving me the blue fuzzy yarn and the cute little "Joy" charm.

This week we are being sponsored by Lili of the Valley.  The winner will receive a 10 BP voucher to their store.
Don't forget to check out the other DT members cards-Heather, Chris, Nikki C, Carla, Jenny, Linda, Nikki F, Sarah, Shelley

I'm also entering this card into the following challenge:  Simon Says-No Red or Green Xmas card
